I have been out of action for a little while as life has taken over. I have sold my house and have been busy house hunting so have not had a lot of time for card making. I have also been in training for a long distance walk I am due to undertake with three friends. The walk is The West Highland Way which takes us from Milngavie, just outside Glasgow, to Fort William. A distance of 93 miles in 7 days. We travel to Glasgow on the Friday 17th June and start our walk the following day. With this in mind I thought I would make a card for each of my fellow walkers to mark the occasion. Imagine my delight when I saw that Little Claire had brought out the most appropriate stamp - The Great Outdoors. The card shows the route of the walk on the left - I downloaded this from a West Highland Way web site - I then stamped and coloured with pro markers the image, before matting and layering, then finishing off with some card candy.
I then stamped the sign post image with the boots on the inside. I decided that the locations written on the post would show the way home, the way to our destination of our walk, Fort William, and also Ben Nevis as we climbed this 2 years ago.
I hope you like my effort.

Animals
Hello everyone, another week another challenge. After doing a 14 mile walk on Sunday of the Yorkshire Wolds it was nice to settle down over thesee last few days and do some crafting. Looking at the Little Claire challenge I saw the theme was animals and put my thinking cap on in order to get my entries together. I needed cards for some birthdays and also a new arrival and I finally came up with the cards below.
For this I used the Little Claire" Lots of Fun" elephant stamp which I stamped onto a Nellies Die and coloured with pro markers. I then matted it onto card embossed with a clutterbug folder design, which just seems to come in handy so many times.
This time I used another Nellies Die and stamped using Little Claires Big Hugs stamp again coloured with Pro Markers.
Earlier in the week I had received the new Little Claire club stamp "The Right Time" which was of my favourite animal the owl. I have used all the elements I received in the pack and put my own design together.
I hope you like my cards. Happy crafting everyone Denise x

Spring challenge
I woke up this morning bright and early and remebered I had the day to myself. One of my daughter's took me out yesterday to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as my mother's day treat, my other daughter lives quite a distance away and hubby is at the golf course.
So what did I do with all this time on my hands - baked a cake (carrot) and after looking at Little Claire's new challenge I decided I would spend some time in my craft room to come up with my idea for a spring card.
I decided I would do a side easel card. I had just purchased some new nestabilities so I would also incorperate that. I stamped my image and coloured with pro markers. I matted and layered the image on some card from my stash embossing one of them with a clutterbug embossing folder. I then embellished with gems, card candy and gemmed flora doodles (which I also coloured with pro-markers). For the inside of the card I used some paper from the Quite Contrary/My Minds Eye stack.
I hope you like my card

Walking day
In June this year myself and three friends are going to the walk the West Highland Way - Glasgow to Fort William (93 miles). The reason for doing this is one of the party - Mary - will be 70, although you wouldn't believe it, and she had read about the walk and liked the sound of it so she asked if we would like to join her. The four of us have done a few long distance walks over the last few years, one being the Coast to Coast. In prepartion for the WHW Mary and I decided we would do some extra walks during the week, we usually walk with a walking club every Sunday. A local long distance walk in our area is the Minster Way - walking from Beverley Minster to York Minster (50 miles) therefore this seemed and ideal opportunity to do the walk as training and today we did the first 10.5 miles - Beverley to Kilnwick.
The weather was brilliant, the walking easy along field paths and roads. During our lunch stop in the church yard in Scourton we heard a woodpecker and saw a pheasant chasing a stoat, and the bird song was wonderful. It was so peaceful.
It was lovely to walk in our local area as we normally travel a little further afield. It was also nice to see the villages of Arram, Scourton, Lockington and Kilnwick in more details as these are usually by passed when we drive by.
The only down side of the day was that I forgot my camera - what a numpty.
Can't wait for the next section - hope the weather is as good.

First Blog
This is my first blog. I will be posting things I like to do in the spare time. I enjoy walking, reading and card crafting.
I will post photos and details of my walks. Hopefully discuss books I am reading, currently it's Crime & Punishment. I try to read a classic in between reading current fiction and autobiographies.
I will also publish photo's of cards I make. Here are some of the ones I have done today.
