A Walking Day

Today was a walking day.  I had volunteered to lead a walk with my walking club and as the sun was shining it would have been rude not to keep to the arrangement.  17 of us crossed from the North Bank of the Humber to the South Bank over the mighty Humber Bridge to meet up with a member of the walking group who lives on the South Bank.

We met at the Waters Edge Visitor Centre where, you can enjoy the view across The Humber and watch wild life on the surround ponds and enjoy the facilities of the centre and its café.

We left the visitor centre and set off west along the river bank going under the bridge.

As we continued along the river bank we kept an eye out for wild life and spotted this bird. Non of the group could say what it was however I checked my bird book when I got home and the nearest I could find was the Purple Sandpiper, but if you know better let me know.

Further along our route we had to make a detour as the path came to an abrupt end.  The path had been diverted as the river bank had been breached and the path was no longer accessible.  This meant we had to go further then initially planned however, it didn't put anything onto the mileage so we continued a little in land before picking up the river bank once again.

We continue along the river bank taking occasional breaks to take in the views and  draw breath.

Eventually South Ferriby came into view so we decided it was time for lunch and sat along the river bank for a well earned rest.

After lunch we headed down into South Ferriby.  I spotted this house which reminded me of a Grand Design type build but not to my taste.  We carried along the road before heading down a path to the Far Ings Nature Reserve.

Through the reserve  there were views of The Humber Bridge again and also an opportunity for a group photo.

All in all a wonderful 8.5 mile walk suitable for a winters day.  It was helped along by good company and wonderful sunshine, which of course I had ordered as I detest walking in the rain.

Back at the Waters Edge some of the group took advantage of the facilities at the visitor centre while some us decided to finish with a visit to The Ropery.  This has a café, a little museum about the old Rope works a gift shop and art gallery.

Wedding Anniversary

Hello again.  I needed to make a card for my friends wedding anniversary and this is the design I came up with. Also having been away from the blog scene for quite some time I thought a challenge was needed and I noticed that Little Claire where doing a challenge with the Love theme http://littleclairesdesigns.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/monthly-blog-challenge-66-love-and.html so I thought I would enter this card.

I used a 6" x 6" base card and matted a piece of sky blue foundation card onto it.  I then took a piece of white card and embossed it using the Creative Expressions Bed of Rose embossing folder and matted this onto the card.

I then cut the Creative Expression Sue Wilson Tethered Hearth striplet die out of sky blue card then just the out die  to cut the shape in white card.  I glued the blue piece onto the white card with spray glue before placing this onto the card using mounting foam.

I then used the decorative centre of the Creative Expression Sue Wilson Canadian Collection Toronto die on sky blue card which again was attached to the card with  mounting foam.  I then cut on the sentiment from the Creative Expression Sue Wilson Expressions Collection Ornate Oval Special Day, three times in white card before stacking them together with spray glue and attaching this to the decorative centre.

I cut some flowers in white and sky blue using the Creative Expression Sue Wilson Finishing Touches Collection Camellia Complete Petal backing them with Creative Expressions Finishing Touches Collection Splendid Swirls.  These were then put onto the card to make a little corsage.

I then finished off with some pearls down the edges.

My friends where overjoyed with the finished article.

I hope you like it and thank you for visiting.

Just for You (Men)

Hello again.  Wow I am doing so well in keeping up with posting, long may it continue.  I thought I would make another card suitable for the men in our lives because I always find it so difficult.

I took a 6" x 6" card and matted it with Creative Expressions Foundation Card (Cobalt) and a white pierced edged card.  I then took some more Cobalt coloured card and centred the large cutting die from the Sue Wilson California Collection - San Fransisco die and ran it though the Grand Calibur.

I then embossed this card with the Die'Sire Picnic Plaid embossing folding. The card was then foam mounted onto the base card.  I cut the largest decorative die from the same die set in Cobalt coloured card and recessed into the aperture created on the embossed card using spray glue.

I then cut the smallest decorative die in white and attached as shown.

I stamped the sentiment onto to some more white card and cut it out with the smallest die and before removing it from the die inked it with some Stormy Sky Tim Holtz Distress Ink.

I cut some corners using the Spellbinders Parisian Accents and completed the card by adding some black pearls

I hope you like it.  Thanks for visiting.

On your special day

Hello again.  Well the weather is still not good in fact we are getting snow at the moment.  Once again a good excuse for card making.

This offering could be given not only for birthdays but for a wedding or engagement card.

I started by matting a piece of Creative Expressions Milk Foundation card and piercing an edge around all four sides before attaching it to a 7" x 7" card.  I then cut out nine squares from the Sue Wilson Configuration Corner Squares die in the same milk card.

I cut a piece of Creative Expressions Blush Foundation card to fit inside the pierced edge of the milk card and attached a piece of sticky adhesive sheet to it.  I then added the squares to the sticky blush card, as shown, before sprinkling Cosmic Shimmer Diamond Sprinkles all over and then added to the card with mounting foam.

The outer die of the Sue Wilson Frames & Tags Heraldic Square die was cut in blush card and the inner die cut in milk card. I glued the milk card to the blush card using spray glue and added it to the card with mounting foam.

I then cut the sentiment from the Sue Wilson Expressions die, Special Day four times, 3 in white card and the final one in blush card.  These were stacked one on top of each other, with the blush card on top, using spray glue.  These were added to the  fall away piece from the centre of the same die before adding it, again with mounting foam, to the main card.

I finished off with some pearls.

I hope you like my offering.  Thank you for visiting.

All about the flowers

Hello again, I thought I would share my latest card with you.  Again I have used a lot of Creative Expression/Sue Wilson products.  I just think they are so versatile.

I cut the Sue Wilson Pierced Rose Die out of some white card.  I inked the roses with Frosty Aqua Cosmic Shimmer Colour Cloud Ink before adding some Aqua Foundation Card to the back.

I made a frame from the 2 largest dies in the Sue Wilson Noble Dies - Ornate Pierced Rectangles and added this to the top as shown.

I matted and layered some Aqua card with some white card embossed using the Bed of Roses Embossing Folder from Creative Expressions.  This is my favourite embossing folder and you will see it used a lot, for which I make no apologies. I placed this onto my card blank and then placed the pierced rose frame on top.

I made a flower corsage using white tulle, pearl string, Sue Wilson Camellia Complete Petal flowers in Aqua and White and some leaves using Spellbinders foliage dies.

I hope you like it.

Just for you

Hello again.  The weather here is absolutely appalling.  I don't know about you but I am ready for some sunshine.  There is one benefit to the awful weather and its the fact I don't feel guilty about spending time in my craft room card making.  What will you be doing this week?

I am a great fan of Sue Wilson dies from Creative Expressions, you will probably realise this when you view my blogs. So here goes for the details of this card.

I took a piece of Aqua foundation card and die cut it using the Italian background die from Sue Wilson.  I backed it using Sticky Adhesive Sheet and sprinkled it with Cosmic Shimmer diamond sprinkle glitter jewels. before putting it onto the base card with some mounting foam.

Using some white card from my stash I attached some sticky adhesive sheet and die cut it with the tag from the Sue Wilson Austrian Collection corner, border tag die. I then stamped the sentiment onto some Aqua foundation card, again covering it in Sticky Adhesive sheet before cutting it with the centre cutting die from the same die set.  I removed the top layer from the sticky sheet on both and sprinkled them with diamond sprinkles before putting on the card again using mounting foam.

For the flower I put some Sticky Adhesive sheet onto some more Aqua card and using the Sue Wilson Camellia complete petal die I cut out  2 of the medium sized flowers.  I glittered the flowers before offsetting them and placed a pearl in the centre.  The foliage die is from Spellbinders and before removing it from the die I inked them using Frosty Aqua Cosmic Shimmer Colour Cloud Ink. These were attached to the card with some white tulle and string pearls with glue dots.

I hope you like the card.  See you soon.

A nice technique.

Hello. With the weather outside being wet and windy I am managing to get a number of cards made and have managed to keep my promise of adding another blog.  Here goes.

I love learning different techniques and this is one of my favourites.

I took some Teal coloured Foundation Card and embossed it using the Sue Wilson Bed of Roses embossing folder.  I then spread Decadent Teal Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture Paste over the whole of it and left it to dry.  This took about a couple of hours.

I cut a base in white using the biggest die from the Sue Wilson Canadian Collection Toronto die.  Using the same die together with the next largest die and cut this out on some teal card and added it to the white base.  I then used the third die and cut out the middle so it looked like a frame.  I added mounting foam to this.

I used the next die down and cut it out of white card.  I stamped the sentiment onto teal card in Clear Perfect Medium and embossed in Silver.

I matted and layered some teal and white card to my card base.  The Bed of Roses background, once dry, was cut into three sections and mounted with foam to the card.  The frame was then added and the white pattered card glued to the centre before the sentiment was added.

I finished the card off with some embellishments

Hope you like it.
